ditl - Summer with avÔ at ortiga

In this quiet Portuguese village called ORTIGA. Where, summer is a symphony of sunlight and breeze. This year, it's sprinkled with extra magic – my visit! I'm a documentary photographer, not a scene-stager. I capture the raw beauty of an amazing family, and this summer with grandpa.

Kids, in their usual mismatched clothes, explore the pool and the fruit trees, laughter echoing as they chase lizards. Grampa patiently teaches them, palys with them whispering stories, revealing a life dedicated to this land.

Under the cool shade of the fig tree, a mismatched feast awaits. The air vibrates with chatter and clinking silverware. It's a symphony of imperfections – spilled juice, mismatched cups, and pure joy.

As the fiery sunset paints the sky, we gather on the porch swing. Fireflies dance, a secret language only children understand. Avô hand rests on a child's head, a silent promise to carry these memories forward.

My lens captures more than moments – the chipped porch swing paint, the worn hands kneading dough, the freckled faces smeared with dirt and genuine love. These details hold the magic. The chaos, the laughter, the genuine love - that's what makes this family unique. I document stories, the beauty that shines brightest in everyday moments.

This a documentary family photography session so: forget staged smiles, come explore the sun, sweat, and smiles of a Portuguese summer with me and sweet Avó at Ortiga.
